Cupcakes 4 Cure was born out of a zest for life, passion for the "sisterhood" that builds strong women, and a pure love of running.  When I signed up for last year's Race for the Cure, I decided to go the distance on both training and fundraising. Cupcakes were the perfect fit, since I worked in bakeries throughout high school and college.  And I'll admit it... I just love to eat cupcakes!

Run for your Cause
In 2011, I will repeat the Illinois Half Marathon (13.1 miles) on April 30 in Champaign, IL, followed by the Peoria Komen Race for the Cure (3.1 miles) on May 7.  From January through April, I pledge to run over 300 training miles because I want to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer.  Why run? I believe running makes women stronger and healthier, both physically and mentally, to survive anything life throws our way.

I run in memory of my grandmother Lillian Wucki, my little Lily's namesake, one of many who lost the battle to breast cancer. My hope is that by time my little girls are old enough to worry about this disease that there will be a Cure.

Honor the Fighters!
If you know someone who is fighting breast cancer, a survivor, or a loved one that lost the battle, I will run in their honor.  For a $10 donation, you can add their name to the back of my 2011 race shirt (worn for two races).

Please help me reach my fundraising goal by making a tax-deductible donation today. You may donate online with your credit card by visiting the
Komen Race for the Cure website and click the "Donate" button above my goal. Your support helps us get another step closer to a world without breast cancer.

Cupcakes 4 Cure
During the 2010 Valentine's Day week, I baked over 400 cupcakes.  My fundraising effort was extended through March and April. I spent most Friday nights baking and decorating treats for birthday parties, with net proceeds donated to the Peoria Komen for the Cure. Thank you to everyone who ordered cupcakes and cakes for your special events. Your contribution made a difference in the fight against breast cancer! Together we raised over $500.00.

In 2011, Cupcakes 4 Cure has doubled the fundraising goal and created some new cupcakes treats to order.  February is the annual Valentine's cupcake drive.  New for this year, we'll also do cupcake drives in March for St. Patrick's Day and in April for Easter.  But it doesn't stop there!  I will continue to donate 100% of net proceeds on any cupcake orders leading up to the big race on May 7.  Place a cupcake order now.

Why donate to Komen?
For more than 25 years, Komen for the Cure has played a critical role in every major advance in the fight against breast cancer - transforming how the world talks about and treats this disease, and helping to turn millions of breast cancer patients into breast cancer survivors.

Over the next 25 years, an estimated 25 million women around the world will be diagnosed with breast cancer if we don't find a cure. Komen will not stop until we discover and deliver the cures. That's is their promise.

Thank You for your support,
Jessica McMullin
